Sustainability

Sustainability and Our Policies

Protecting the environment is important to The Bowden Lodge and we are working hard to reduce our Carbon Footprint and our impact on the environment. Our approach to sustainability covers every part of daily life at the Lodge, from the food we source and the energy we use, to the small but important details in every guest room.

Recycling and Waste Reduction

We recycle paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, tins, batteries, ink cartridges and lightbulbs. Old towels and cloths are reused for cleaning, furniture is given away instead of going to landfill, and printer cartridges are refilled rather than discarded. In guest rooms, we use glass bottles instead of plastic, and encourage towel reuse to minimise waste.

Reducing Single Use Products

Reducing Single Use Products

We provide digital guest guides to cut down on paper. Rooms are stocked with reusable china mugs, glasses and stainless steel spoons. Bathroom toiletries are refillable, and we replace single-use plastic milk pods with fresh milk in reusable glass bottles – saving more than 5,000 pods each year

Our Commitment

We know that true sustainability is an ongoing effort. By making considered choices each day, we ensure that your stay at The Bowden Lodge supports local suppliers, reduces environmental impact, and contributes to a more sustainable future for our community.

Guests are invited to join us in these efforts – whether by reusing towels, conserving water, or enjoying our locally sourced menu. Together, small actions can make a meaningful difference.
